PermaLink The tornando did not his us 02/02/2007 12:50 PM
but it was close enough we realise now. We are ok and so are our horses. At 4 am we the storm hit us with severe thunderstorms

and heavy rain. We had no damage at all. However we are trying to get in touch with friends that were in the path of the tornado. So far without success.
We do hope they and their horses are ok.

Hi Jessica,

I have been thinking about you and wondering how you faired the weather. Good to hear you came through without dammage.

Metmans barn is high and dry, but I was told they had 12" of rain and Hits had 3 rings under water but they had showjumping Friday in one ring after they moved the jumps that where floating out of the new lake. Metman had 2 clear rounds last week it was his first public appearence with Robin so he took him slow and easy so he was not in the ribbons. Robin was very pleased with him and he behaved superb. He should be going again next week and the week after. I am comming down the week of the 19th to watch him go.

Hi Jessica
I'm sorry I didn't contacted you sooner. I have been working at Equine Affaire, and was not aware of the storms. I am so glad to hear that your family and the horses are OK.
Linda

Good to hear. Hope your friends will turn out to be ok.

I think I was as tramatized as the horses during one of our hurricanes a few years ago... trying to sooth frantic horses enough to lead through chest deep water... long story, not fun. I'm SO glad you guys were not affected by the super-cell that blew through here!! Hope everyone in the area made it through safely.

Congratulations to the success of Metman, we will try to see him perform on some of the dates you gave us!
We found our friends and horses ok, thousands of people in Central Florida are without homes though, only in a few minutes their lifes were ruined.
Linda, welcome to the blog, I am looking forward to seeing you here more often!

Anne- Marie,
are you having any foals out of your mares this year? Are you breeding your stallions to any outside mares? I'm very interested in how ATs cross with other breeds, would really appreciate any info on that. Thank you,
Darya

Darya,

I unfortunatley do not have any foals comming this year. I have a client who is breeding an Akhal-Teke to Metman this month. I have breedings sold to Metman to an Irish mare and an American thoroughbred. I have had several more inquiries from people who have seen Metman in Florida. Salam, I have had several inquiries lately but no bookings yet to Akhal-Teke, Thoroughbred and a Percheron Mare of all things. I have a women is Virginia who in very interested in breeding to Magnatli who has a thoroughbred mare. All clients have excellent mares, I have reserved the right to inspect and approve all cross breedings. Nothing makes a stallion look worse then bad foals from bad mares. I expect to get more breedings sold when Salam and Magnatli are also out competing. I know that I would not breed to a stallion with no competition record if I where looking to produce a sport horse. Metman is at least out and being seen by riders most of which have never seen an Akhal-Teke before and they have been impressed so far with his workouts. Real competition starts next week, cross your fingers everyone

Anne-Marie

Anne- Marie,
Thank you for your reply. I understand you exactly about bad foals from bad mares. I had a client yesterday looking at Dominik, and I said I want to see their mare, as I am interested in a good foal just as much as they are. She has got an Arab mare and wants to breed a good all-round horse with good temperament for herself. Dominik was as good as gold yesterday and she sure was impressed. She said she has seen a few Arabs (stallions), but they all were a bit nutty. She said she doesn't like the nose to be too dished. I was trying to find some examples of such cross but found very little. So it left me wondering, what the foal would turn out like...
Got another client with IDxHighlander mare, but that should be pretty straight forward, as the foal should be just more refined. As long as the mare is good. Again she is just looking for good temperament all round horse.
I'm not expecting any sport horse breeders yet, as Dom has not done anything yet. We are still looking for a good trainer, the one that won't make me use strong aids and wind the horse up...

Anne-Marie,
Which days will Metman be showing this coming show week (Feb 14-18) and which classes, we would really like to see him in the 130 cm classes! We are planning for the weekend and we would not want to be at HITS without seeing a Teke performing there!

Anyone know how Metman is doing right now?

13. Jessica02/21/2007 16:31:33

Kerri-Jo, I have not seen Metman's name in the result lists that are published on HITS web site so far.
We will be going to HITS during this weekend and I'll try to get in touch with Anne-Marie to try to catch Metman showing. I think Anne-Marie is in Ocala now so it might not be possible for her to update Metman's show schedule on the blog.
