PermaLink Pictures from the Teke breed parade in Kentucky Horse Park Sept 9 09/11/2006 11:04 AM
I have attached a few pictures from the Teke breed parade in Kentucky Horse Park. The Tekes where shown in traditional Turkmen oufits and the riders where dressed up like Turkmen djigits. A yurt was placed in the Teke stable (Todd and I went in to look for vodka but found beautiful Teke carpets), everys tall was nicely decorated Turkmen style. Several photos of Tekes where also displayed.

The younger Tekes where shown in-hand while the older horses where shown under rider in a free form. The breed parade was performed twice on the Saturday when Todd and I was there, all the Tekes did a good job showing off the typical traits of the breed. I would like to congratulate the American AT Assn. as well as owners and riders to a great performance at the Kentucky Horse Park.
As we sat among the spectators we could hear their comments, it seems like they all liked Pieter the most, he was our favourite to! Long lengs with good bone, long highly carried neck, nice typical head, good movements, metallic sheen and tons of presence, he also showed a very nice temperament at the same time as he managed to look majestic. Great Turkmen steed!
We where delighted to meet a Swede among the US Teke people, Ann-Marie Rasch that recently imported a few Tekes from Akhalt-Service is actually Swedish.
On Sunday there where two more parades scheduled, we cannot share pictures from those two parades as we went to the Keeneland Yearling Sales instead.

Jessica, What a pity that we didn't meet! Thanks for the additional photos from the show.
Allegra, we went into the tent with April looking for vodka, but she got interrupted by something else and later I forgot about it!
There will be other occassions hopefully were we can have vodka in a Turkmen yurt!
