PermaLink Plans for a grading tour by Tatyana Ryabova in the US08/18/2006 01:36 PM
Jas Shearer Mc Mahone has with the support of Phil Case made preliminary plans for Tatyana Ryabova to make a grading tour in the USA in October this year.

Jas is currently working on contacting as many owners as possible to see if a tour can be performed in October. By next week we should know if enough owners have shown interest in having their horses graded. If Tatyana Ryabova comes to the States to grade Tekes, she will be grading our horses as well.

Leonid. I think the inspections for the studbook records that Dr Ryabova performs are very different from a breed show.
At this point what we need more of in this breed are breed shows!
The inspections, that are quite pointless in a way as every pure bred Teke will be inscribed into the stud book no matter what it looks like and as the points that are given at the time and site for the inspection are more or less always changed once published, are private and takes place at the farm of the owner of the horses which means that the public is not invited, the horses can be in any condition, starved, dirty, lame and defect, nothing of this is reflected in the gradings.
In a breed show, the breeders are forced to show clean, well conditioned, well behaved animals, and the public will be educated about the breed as well as it offers an opportunity for other breeders to come and see animals live that are offered for sale as well as for breeding services. Also a very important factor as character and mentality is not graded anywhere a breed show creates a golden opportunity to see how the horses behave when they are not at home, a very good indicator of mentality.
Breed shows also encourage breeders to train their horses to be at least shown in hand and also has to feed them at least for the breed show, this factors are more important now than ever within this breed in the USA.
Well, to answer your question Leonid, of course your services are needed here, more than ever I would say!!
We also need other judges than Dr Ryabova to evaluate the US Tekes, this I have had confirmed by the breeders/owners I have talked to about this so far. A real breed needs a real breed show!
